A Tribe Called Melanin is a group of ambitious performers sharing their talents while developing and empowering the black community through agreement, encouragement, and improv. This is a safe space for performers to grow their talents collaborate and engage in meaningful creativity with people like them... And being who we are the nature of comedy as we all know there’s truth in every joke and shade in every room. It may get messy, ratchet, and bougie. We ask that you enter our space with open hearts, open minds, and we will do our best to leave you with some new points of view, new and hilarious stories and laughs to share.

I Directed The Colored Museum!!

So here’s the thing, I’ve always secretly wanted to Direct the Colored Museum! I can remember in 2013 when I first read the play and took on the roles of Janine and the Lady in Plaid. I knew then that I wanted to put the play up one day, what I didn’t know was that I was going to put the play up after 2 of the most tumultous years of my life. Yeah, the Pandemic rocked my world, let alone my creative mind. Nonetheless, we made it! We’re here, STILL, breathing and creating. :)

Every single aspect of this production has been blessed and ordain by God, from the cast to the production team, to the order in which everything was completed. They’ve blessed me in ways I cannot and will not even attempt to explain. We all stretched one another into creative depths I didn’t even know existed and we are all the better for it. Don’t miss your blessing, come on out to see us! The Color Museum, written by George C. Wolfe and Directed by Jazmine Nichelle is up and running, June 16th- July 24th, 2022, Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 7pm.
